ESTES , Mrs. J. B. |

Mrs. J. B. Estes
Mrs. J. B. Estes, who has been so long confined to her bed, died Tuesday the 5th of August at 4 p.m. She was buried at New Hope Methodist Church. Her funeral being preached by James O'Neal from the Text "If A Man Die Shall He Live Again". The sermon well timed and most impressive. A large number was present and many hearts were saddened as the remains were lowered into the grave. Mrs. Estes was one of nine daughters of Mr. Atlas O'Neal and the first one he has ever lost. Mrs Estes leaves also three brothers, a devoted husband and seven children to mourn her their loss. She has gone to that happy home where partings are unknown. May God's blessing rest upon the bereaved ones.
(The Meriwether Vindicator - 15 July 1891 - Oakland Notes News)
Martha Ann "Mattie" O'Neal b. 30 October 1845 d. 11 August 1891 (according to dates on tombstone) 1st wife of James B Estes. The above newspaper date cannot be correct if she died in August.
